The One-Eyed King and the Crowd
A FIELD OF INQUIRY
An exploration of how we see, think, and understand the world.
“In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king.“
But what happens when the one-eyed king believes the view he has is the whole truth?
The One-Eyed King: A Field of Inquiry is an evolving exploration of the ways people form beliefs, interpret experience, inherit assumptions, and make sense of a changing world.
Through essays, reports, videos, and podcast conversations, this project examines the forces that shape our understanding—from the cultural atmosphere of our formative years to the identities we build, the conflicts we inherit, and the stories competing for our attention.
The questions we rarely stop to ask

Every generation is shaped by its time. Every culture develops its own assumptions. Every political era leaves impressions on the people who live through it. And every mind has a tendency to recognize what feels familiar as what must be true.
But how much of what we call our own thinking has been influenced by the world that formed us?
How do ideas become identities? How does rebellion become convention? Why do disagreements so easily turn into conflicts between groups? And what happens when complex thought is compressed into something that can be consumed in seconds?
This field of inquiry follows those questions across different conduits of human experience.
Why this exploration matters
We live among an extraordinary number of perspectives, yet we often encounter them through systems that reward certainty, speed, and division.
This project offers a space to slow down.
Not to tell you what to believe. Not to assign you a side. And not to replace one narrow perspective with another.
Instead, it invites you to examine the forces influencing your own perspective—and to consider what might become visible when you look beyond the portion of the picture you already know.
You may find yourself questioning familiar assumptions. You may recognize patterns in your own experiences. You may discover that an argument you dismissed contains a consideration you had not previously encountered.
The objective is not to eliminate perspective.
It is to become more aware of the perspective you’re using.
A collection of ways to explore
No single format can carry every dimension of an idea.
That’s why The One-Eyed King exists as a collection of connected artifacts:
- Essays that develop the ideas through reflection and argument.
- Reports that examine concepts, patterns, and supporting context.
- Videos that bring abstract ideas into visual and accessible form.
- Podcast episodes that create room for a more conversational exploration.
Each format offers a different way into the same broader field. You can follow the suggested path or begin with the question that interests you most.
You don’t have to agree with every perspective.
You only have to be willing to examine how you arrived at your own.
Begin your inquiry
The One-Eyed King is an invitation to explore the relationship between perception and context, identity and influence, culture and cognition.
Some questions will be familiar. Others may challenge the way you’ve organized what you already know.
There are lanes, roads, and avenues to follow—but the destination is not predetermined.
Look closely. Question freely. Consider more than one side.
You might be surprised by what becomes visible.
