Overview
In the physical world, like the birds, we use force to produce the lift that allows us to momentarily defy gravity and take flight. Drag is the resistance force that opposes an object’s motion through a fluid (air is a fluid). Drag is a byproduct of lift.

In the metaphysical world, these principles work similarly. The human experience is fluid and as such may be managed with many of the same principles used in fluid dynamics. Our physical existence is like water and our spiritual existence is like air, so for concept purposes we discuss them as one and learn to understand how these natural scientific undulations create the perfect example for our mindset.
If this were a scientifically rigorous report, not for heuristic review, it would be more appropriate to discuss aerodynamics (air) and hydrodynamics (liquid) separately.
This is a concept that we don’t have to reach too far to grasp. We understand the mental wave – we use common phrases like; chaos, spinning out of control, rolling with it, brain waves, drowning, stay afloat, drifting, flow and my favorite – they all float down here.
My goal is to illuminate the connection between the physical world and the allusions used in the metaphysical. In ancient times, before calculus, our tools to study change and motion were limited.
So teachers used allusions, parables, allegory, metaphors and heuristics to describe the actualization of these mental/spiritual motions (undulations).
It’s unwise to think ourselves so learned now, that we disregard the thousands of years of instinctive knowledge that kept our species alive. The zeitgeist of technological hubris makes the uninitiated feel learned.
Today’s popular message is that we have no control over our spiritual/psychological lift and drag, and that we are just subject to the tides created by others.
This is not truth. Of course some people will find themselves more skillful than others, however this is no reason not to try.
It is my belief that once people are able to make the connection and understand how natural (supernatural) the human mind is they’ll be in a better position to choose healthy ways to manage their spiritual lift/drag forces.
Or you can follow The Most Buoyant One and walk over the wave.
